Agenda: Improve common beans productivity and market access for smallholder producing women, youth and men
Early in September, AMDT signed a contract to fund a SEIDA-lead Pulses Inclusive for Growth (PIG) project to be implemented up to 2023 in Manyara region. The partnership will involve collaborations with private sector companies as well as public institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture.
During the contract signing ceremony at AMDT offices in Dar es Salaam, leaders of both parties pledged more commitment and synergies in transforming the pulses value chain with the aim to unlock the crop sector’s constraints for increased employment and income opportunities for poor communities.
AMDT’s CEO Mr Cherles Ogutu underlined his institution’s commitment to provide more support to manage the grant for the benefit of the targeted communities. “We will always go an extra mile to provide grant management support to SEIDA and its third party partners to ensure intended and agreed interventions are implemented”.
On his part, the Head of SEIDA and Project Team Leader Mr Fredrick Ogenga appreciated the AMDT grant and continued support in their work on developing agricultural value chains. “You have supported us in many ways to facilitate our projects and ensure that we reach more households in targeted communities. This grant is a much needed resource for our work in the common beans value chain in one of the leading producing regions in Tanzania – Manyara”.
The AMDT – SEIDA partnership is worth USD 200,000 and will run up to the year 2023.
